STATES TIME

Here it is.  The moment we've all been waiting for: Science Olympiad States.
Saturday, March 21st @ Framingham State College

We are meeting at the high school at 7:25am sharp.  BE THERE because the bus will leave promptly.  We are team # 32, an even team, thus we will be competing in the time slots or events that are marked EVEN.  Lunch will be all-you-can-eat style, with pizza/cookies/drinks and stuff.  Bring in $6 for lunch and give it to Costas during the Wednesday meetings, or if you see him around.  Here is the day's event schedule.

Also, Cam has ordered team sweatshirts.  In addition to the $6 for states' lunch, give Costas $35 to cover the cost of the sweatshirts at one of the Wednesday meetings.

To look up the rules for your event, go to the top left of the forum and search "states time".  You know the password.

Meet 5 Events

It's the last regional meet.  Let's finish strong!

Meet 5 Info:
Thursday, February 12th, 2009 @ Bedford High School

The Events:
  • Designer Genes - Students will solve problems using their knowledge of Molecular Genetics, Mendelian Genetics, Biotechnology, and Population Genetics.
  • Write It / Do It - One team-mate goes into a room with a built structure.  He/she has to write instructions for his/her other team-mate on how to build it again from scrath.
  • Disease Detectives - Students will use their investigative skills in the scientific study of disease, injury, health, and disability in populations or groups of people with a focus on the effects of population growth on public health outcomes.
  • Trajectory - Teams will design, construct, and calibrate a device capable of launching a projectile into a target area and collect data to develop a series of graphs relating launch configuration to target distance and height.
Think about which event you would like to do.
Also, the sweatshirt design is ready and will be posted soon.  In addition, we will be (finally) assigning states events and relaying the choices to you guys in an upcoming meet.
